The Relationship Series is designed to encourage meaningful conversations about building healthy and responsible relationships. During these sessions, men come together to discuss important topics such as communication, accountability, respect, and personal growth. The goal is to provide practical wisdom and shared experiences that help men develop stronger relationships with their families, friends, and communities while learning how to lead with integrity and purpose.
Understanding the Scabs
During the Men of Purpose relationship series, the discussion began with the idea of scabs. In the meeting, scabs represented open wounds in a man’s life, painful situations, past trauma, disappointments, or unresolved hurt that still affects him today. The conversation was open and honest, allowing the men to reflect on areas of their lives where healing had not yet taken place. Many realized that some wounds they thought were healed were actually still scabs that hurt when touched. It was a tough but necessary conversation that encouraged vulnerability, reflection, and growth.
Becoming the Scars
The second part of the discussion focused on scars, the evidence of wounds that have healed. Scars represent the victories over past trauma, pain, and difficult seasons that men have overcome through faith, wisdom, and perseverance. These scars serve as testimony and encouragement to others who are still dealing with open wounds. During the discussion, it became clear that age did not matter; some scabs can remain open for years. However, the men who carry healthy scars can become a light to those still hurting, showing that healing is possible and that growth can come from even the deepest wounds.
